Patrol Season 2011 / 2012

The official patrol season for 2011 / 2012 will commence on Saturday the 3rd of December 2011 and will conclude on Monday the 9th April 2012.

Requal Dates for Season 2011 / 2012

To remain proficient in all your awards, you have to "requal" each season. For bronze or SRC this means you will need to do a run swim run (the distance will depend on whether you are a bronzie or an SRC) and a theory paper. You also need to demonstrate a rescue, signals and CPR. For each other award, you need to demonstrate that you can still do whatever it is the award says you can do (ie - for IRBD, you need to demonstrate your driving ability, including a rescue.)

To requal you MUST BE A FINANCIAL MEMBER! If you are not, you will be turned away!

Requal will be held at 13th Beach on Sunday the 4th of December, from 9am - 11am.

District dates:

  • Sunday 13th of November at Ocean Grove SLSC from 9am - 11am
  • Saturday 26th of November at Bancoora SLSC from 9am - 11am
  • Saturday 10th of December at Pt Lonsdale from 9am - 11am

This year, all IRB crew and drivers need to update their award. There will be a special IRB requal on the 30th of October from 9am - 11am at Ocean Grove. It is highly recommended you attend this requal to minimise the time you will need to spend requalling your other awards.

State requal will be held at LSV Wednesday 14th of December at 5pm. You need to register online to attend this on the Life Saving Victoria website.

2011 / 2012 Patrol Roster

The Patrol Roster is available here: Patrol Roster

This summer, we are hoping to have more patrols (we are aiming for six) who will patrol less often. We are also hoping to cater to the busy lifestyles that people lead today – some patrols will only patrol over the summer months, while others will patrol in the quieter months. Some will patrol both days over the weekend, while others will only do one day.

We ask that all patrolling members fill out the "Patrol Availability" questionnaire. It is really important that you fill this out completely and return it, so that we can put you in a patrol that will best suit your needs.

We will again be running “Team Thirteen”. This began last season, and rewarded our members who were committed to their patrols, and gained new awards.

Patrol Requirements

Patrol requirements have changed this summer!

We still need three bronzies and one other award holder, this is the same as previous summers.

However, this year, awards to be included in the minimum patrol include:

  • IRB Driver
  • IRB Crew
  • BBM
  • ART *
  • Spinal Management *

* Indicates a new award

This means we need members to update awards! There will be courses run by our district in the coming months, please stay tuned and contact the Club Captain or Chief Instructor if you are interested via the "contact us" page
